Korliss Uecker, an operatic soloist, earned her BA and MA degrees from The Juilliard School. She has appeared in over 150 Metropolitan Opera performances, including appearances with Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. The breadth of her repertoire and credits is vast and includes appearances with major symphony orchestras, at opera houses, and under the batons of such notables as James Levine, Donald Runnicles, Sir Andrew Davis, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Vladimir Jurowski, Edo de Waart, Julius Rudel, and Gerard Schwarz. She has premiered and performed works of today’s great contemporary composers. Of particular interest is her membership in “Feminine Musique,” a duo dedicated to the performance of music by women composers as well as traditional duet literature. Cabaret performances include appearances at the Cafe Carlyle and Poisson Rouge. Ms. Uecker is frequently engaged as a Master Class teacher, adjudicator, and lecturer with such institutions as the Manhattan School of Music, the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, and Columbia University.
Feminine Musique – The Life and Times of Pauline García-Viardot
Pauline Garcia-Viardot (1821-1910), of Spanish descent, was a leading nineteenth-century French mezzo-soprano, pedagogue, and composer. Her music will be performed by female music specialists Feminine Musique. Pauline’s music will be interspersed with fascinating details about her life and the lives of musicians, writers, and artists in her inner circle – Chopin, George Sand, Delacroix, Liszt, and Brahms.
Opera singers Korliss Uecker and Tammy Hensrud are known worldwide for their prolific operatic performances. They’ve also dedicated themselves to the promotion of music of women composers through their organization, Feminine Musique. Composers Julianna Hall (Roosters and Music Like a Curve of Gold) and Stefania DeKenessy (soundtrack to the film Influence) have enjoyed their works performed by these vibrant vocalists. Uecker and Hensrud are also academics, teaching voice at Hofstra University and the Preparatory Division of the Music Conservatory of Westchester, respectively
